High on Himalayas Interviews Pratibha Singh

An Interview with Pratibha Singh (@pratibha176)

#1 Who are you and What got you into traveling?

Hi, I am Pratibha, a design graduate working into e-commerce industry and based in Gurgaon.
Well, when I was studying design, I got to learn a lot about people and different cultures, something which excited me a lot. I guess that’s when the bug caught me…

Only a few years later I figured it was a travel bug.

#2 What is your favourite Himalayan destination and Why ?

There’s something there which sets Ladakh pole aparts from other Himalayan destination.

The weather, the people, the landscape.. that feeling that there’s no one around for miles and you are still safe.

#3 What sort of a traveler are you ?

I’m genuinely a curious kind of traveller.

Eyes, ears, mind all wide open with weapons of my choice – iPhone & Pixel3XL always ready for rare, precious and beautiful shots.

#4 What’s your best and worst experience in the Himalayas ?

It’s been 3 years and still Sikkim, North Sikkim to be precise, is something which I would call best in last few years.

The locals I met there, the women empowerment I saw there, the honesty and cleanliness (not saying that I didn’t see these at other Himalayan destinations, but you ought to be in Sikkim to understand what I mean). Meanwhile, I still have to come across the worst experience in the mountains. I don’t even have a bad one yet 🙂

#5 What tip would you like to give to fellow travellers?

Respect locals and their culture.

Be ready for the unexpected and enjoy the moment.

And do a little research before heading upto your next destinations, it always help 🙂

  13. Thanks for sharing this interview with Pratibha Singh. Although, I would have liked a bit more depth; I would have liked to learn about other places she travels to, and of course how she travels (bus, plane, train, hotel, guesthouse, etc.) – all things, which contribute to your personal travel experience! I can understand very well that Pratibha Singh names Ladakh as her favourite place in the Himalaya. It seems to be the closest you can get to something like Tibetan culture, without entering China.

  14. It’s good to hear about your thoughts and experience on your Himalayas visit Pratibha. I like visiting places that I can interact with the locals and your best experience in Sikkim is a great thing to know about. Will note more of this as I have the plan for booking a trip to the Himalayas in September.
